Wolves appear to be taking a fairly close look at players from Ligue 1 in this transfer window.
Wolves are set to complete the signing of Emmanuel Agbadou from Reims later this week, with the player having done his medical over in France. It’s thought he will cost the club in the region of £15 million.
Wolves hope he will be one of at least two new defenders to join the club this month.
As well as Agbadou, Wolves have also been linked with a couple of players from Lens.
Kevin Danso is thought to have refused a transfer to Wolves, and his teammate Abdukodir Khusanov looks set to join Manchester City.
But Wolves have been linked with another player from France’s top flight.
Wolves considering transfer move for Auxerre defender Clement Akpa

It’s been reported by Give Me Sport that Wolves are considering a move for Auxerre defender Clement Akpa.
Akpa has been with Auxerre – who took Wolves’ Ki-Jana Hoever on loan for the season – since 2021, after moving from Metz’s academy.
He’s been with their first-team since getting promoted ahead of the 2022/23 season, and has racked up 42 appearances for the club.
This term, he’s featured 16 times across all competitions, playing mostly as a centre-back but sometimes as a left-back.
Auxerre have sometimes set up with a back three this season, and Akpa – who won Ligue 2 with the club last season – has tended to play as the left-sided centre-back in that system.
Pereira seems to want a left-sider
We’ve had transfer links to Renato Veiga and Khusanov, and now Wolves appear to hold an interest in Akpa.
Seemingly, Vitor Pereira is quite keen to land another defender who can play on that left side.
Toti Gomes hasn’t had the best of seasons so far, but hasn’t really had any real competition for his place.
It’ll be interesting to see if Akpa is someone Wolves attempt to sign. Of course, Wolves successfully negotiated with Auxerre in the summer to facilitate a season-long loan move for Ki-Jana Hoever.
So perhaps this relationship between the clubs could lead to something happening over Akpa this month.
