Wolves are today being linked with a move for Athletic Bilbao winger Alex Berenguer, ahead of the summer transfer window.
Wolves fans watched on in January as the club struggled to bring in new players as a result of the precarious financial situation.
Gary O’Neil wanted to bring in a new striker and target a few players including Armando Broja. But in the end, there just wasn’t much wiggle room and the club only brought in Noha Lemina on loan.
Wanderers should be able to spend a bit more freely this summer.
And it looks as though Wolves are looking at Athletic Bilbao forward Alex Berenguer…
Wolves interesting in signing Athletic Bilbao star Alex Berenguer

It has been reported by AS today that Wolves are now looking at a potential deal for Berenguer.
Apparently, Bilbao have been trying to extend his contract and have presented two offers. But so far they’ve had no luck in getting him to sign.
His existing deal expires this summer, and so his next club would be snapping him up on a free transfer.
It is stated that Brentford, Crystal Palace and Wolves have all ‘taken notice of the qualities of Berenguer’, with the player looking set for a new chapter this summer.
So far this season, Berenguer has scored six goals and provided two assists in 26 games. His overall record for Bilbao reads 27 goals and 19 assists in 159 games.
Berenguer could be a means of fleshing out the squad
Perhaps this is something to keep an eye on, because Wolves officials need to help Gary O’Neil flesh out his squad this summer.
The manager has worked wonders this term, but has done so with a very small squad.
Next term, O’Neil needs more options at his disposal and Berenguer could be a decent pick-up on a free transfer. According to Bilbao’s website, the 28-year-old’s ‘greatest strength is his direct style’ and ‘he loves to take on his marker and trouble keepers with his powerful shot.
There is also a suggestion he could be a great fit for the Wolves dressing room, with the website talking up his ‘work ethic and never-say-die attitude’.
At the moment Wolves are short in the wide areas so a move for Berenguer could be welcome. As he would come in on a free, this would allow Wolves to use more of their budget on another winger or striker.
