Wolves have identified one player they wish to add to their attack this summer.
The Old Gold will be desperate to get more signings over the line after suffering two transfer rejections.
First, Marc Pubill’s transfer was hijacked by Atletico Madrid, and just as Wolves thought they’d found an alternative, Juanlu Sanchez favoured a move to Napoli.
It’s back to square one for Vitor Pereira in his hunt for a new right-back, but that’s not the only position the Wolves manager wants to hire.

Wolves show interest in Chelsea striker David Datro Fofana
Pereira is also eager to add some attacking power to his squad, which is understandable after losing Matheus Cunha to Manchester United.
When assessing the transfer targets of Premier League clubs, The Times identified one of the names on Wolves’ attacking list.
It’s been confirmed that there ‘has been interest’ from Wolves in 22-year-old Chelsea striker David Datro Fofana.
The Ivorian has been given the green light to leave the Blues this summer, following on from three successive loan spells.
Fofana isn’t the only Chelsea player linked to Molineux, as Wolves have been credited with interest in Axel Disasi.
Chelsea signed the centre-forward in 2023 after being charmed by his form at Molde, where he contributed to 32 goals in only 65 appearances.
Since signing for the West London club, Fofana has appeared on loans at Union Berlin, Burnley and most recently, Goztepe.
Wolves see the promise in the striker enough to add him to their transfer list, being a talent who could add a youthful spark to the front line.
Club | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
Molde | 65 | 24 | 8 |
Chelsea | 4 | 0 | 0 |
Union Berlin | 17 | 2 | 1 |
Burnley | 15 | 4 | 1 |
Goztepe | 9 | 2 | 0 |
Vincent Kompany saw Fofana as a game-changer
Fofana has only made four senior appearances for Chelsea, but that doesn’t mean that the forward lacks experience.
In February 2024, Vincent Kompany was full of praise for Fofana, who single-handedly turned Burnley’s fortunes around in a Premier League clash against Fulham.
The forward was introduced as a substitute on the day, scoring twice to earn a draw for the Clarets, something that earned him high praise from his manager.
“I think it was a turning point for us, the performance of Fofana, Esteve and Assignon. David showed today that he gives us something different and we will need it,” Kompany said.
“He is a player that has played in the Bundesliga. That is a very tough league, and he comes back with a wealth of experience.”
Kompany saw the benefits of Fofana’s loan in one of Europe’s top five leagues, being a player who could now arrive at Wolves raring to pick up where he left off in the Premier League.
