Wolves in transfer race for exciting youngster, it’s his ‘dream’ to play in the Premier League

Wolves’ thrilling end to their Premier League campaign could make them an exciting proposition for potential recruits this summer.

The Old Gold have been in stunning form of late as Wolves 1-0 victory over Manchester United saw them record five Premier League wins in a row for the first time in their history.

It’s been an incredible month for Vitor Pereira’s men, who have gone from being threatened by relegation to moving a staggering 17 points clear of the bottom three.

As the Wanderers continue to look up the table, Pereira will have one eye on the summer transfer window.

Wolves have already been linked with Clement Akpa, the promising centre-back from Ligue 1 side Auxerre, and he isn’t the only player on their radar.

Wolves want to sign Abdoulie Manneh

There will be an onus for Pereira to capture younger players this summer, fleshing out his first-team squad with stars who have huge potential.

As an example, Wolves were preparing a £5m bid for Riquelme Fillipi last month and now they’re also looking to raid Swedish top division side Mjallby AIF.

According to Fotboll Transfers, Wolves are ‘very interested’ in signing attacker Abdoulie Manneh this summer and are joined in the race for his signature by Greek champions Olympiacos and MLS side FC Cincinnati.

The trio of above clubs are reportedly following the player closely ahead of the summer where it is expected they will make an offer for the 20-year-old.

Mjallby had interest from clubs in the winter window, but as his contract doesn’t expire till December 2027, they were able to keep hold of him. However, it is accepted that he will leave for pastures new in the coming months.

Who is Abdoulie Manneh? The Gambian who ‘dreams’ of the Premier League

Wolves fans can be forgiven for not knowing anything about Manneh, with the 2004-born forward currently starring in the Allsvenskan.

Manneh, who can play as a centre-forward or down the wing, has scored five goals and provided two assists in 34 appearances for Mjallby.

In November, the exciting youngster was awarded the Goal of the Season award for his club, telling of his exceptional talents in the final third.

Since being captured from Gambian side Wallidan in January 2024, Manneh has shown the skill, agility and pace of someone who could play in one of Europe’s top five leagues, and that remains his dream.

In an interview with Fotboll Skanalen, Manneh was asked what he dreams about and he replied: “To play in the top five leagues. Hopefully it will happen.”

That indicates where he sees his future, and as the Premier League is a top five league, perhaps that gives Wolves the edge in the transfer race.
