Wolves hold ‘concrete interest’ in ‘top-class’ transfer target also wanted by Manchester United

Wolves are pushing hard to recruit additional reinforcements before deadline day, with another target now coming to light.

Gary O’Neil has the monumental task of replacing Pedro Neto and Max Kilman this summer, as well as working with Wolves’ tight transfer budget

It’s a scenario that the club will be more than used to after the summer of 2023, with just one week remaining until deadline day.

While the positions of Neto and Kilman need to be addressed in the market, it’s another area that O’Neil is now rumoured to be exploring.

Wolves have concrete interest in Fluminense midfielder Andre

Several wingers and centre-backs have been linked to Wolves as deadline day approaches however, it’s a midfielder who has now caught O’Neil’s eye.

Journalist Ben Jacobs reported that the Midlands club hold a ‘concrete interest’ in Fluminense midfielder Andre.

Brazilian outlet Bolavip actually linked the midfielder with a possible move to Molineux last summer, making the interest that of a long-standing nature.

In Jacobs’ update on X, the journalist admitted that while the clubs are a ‘long way from any agreement’, a move is ‘being explored’ by Matt Hobbs.

The player’s price may prove to be ‘prohibitive’ by Jacobs’ understanding, with the Brazil international being linked to Fulham earlier in the summer where a price tag of £25m was quoted.

Manchester United also like Wolves target Andre

Considering the lack of financial room Wolves have to manoeuvre with this summer, signing Andre for £25m seems far from being imaginable.

That being said, Wolves’ interest is there, with a plan clearly in place to attempt to lure the long-term target away from Fluminense.

What’s interesting about Jacobs’ update is the added understanding that Premier League rivals Manchester United also see the 23-year-old as a ‘possibility’ if their top target Manuel Ugarte is not delivered.

It’s unsurprising to hear of Premier League clubs eyeing Andre, who was described as ‘top-class’ by talent scout Jacek Kulig for his combative performances in midfield for Fluminense.

The defensive midfielder is a commanding presence in the engine room however, he’s never shy of producing a line-splitting pass or dribble, making him an exciting figure for Wolves to target.

Only time will tell if a deal can be struck between the two clubs, with interest in the Brazilian heating up.
