Wolves reportedly have ‘big, big plans’ for central defender Yerson Mosquera, who is currently out on loan at Villarreal.
The Colombia international is finishing the 2023/24 campaign with the Spanish outfit, after enjoying a really productive stint with FC Cincinnati last year.
Mosquera made 35 appearances for the club MLS club, and his spell there was described as ‘outstanding’ by pathways manager Steve Davis.
Mosquera came back to Wolves ahead of the January transfer window, and apparently he had interest from around half the clubs in the Championship.
But Wolves facilitated a move to Villarreal for him – and it seems they’re already very excited to have him back…
Wolves have ‘big, big plans’ for Yerson Mosquera

The task now for Mosquera is to break into Villarreal’s starting XI and play as much football as he possibly can between now and the end of the season.
He got his first start last weekend against Granada, and Mosquera will now be hoping to keep his place.
Villarreal captain Raul Albiol was quoted earlier this week as saying the Wolves youngster has a great future, with the veteran clearly impressed with what he’s seen so far from his new teammate.
And it seems Wolves are also very positive about £4.5 million signing Mosquera.
Journalist Liam Keen said on the latest Express & Star podcast: “His name is Yerson Mosquera. We’ll see how he gets on. I think Wolves have got big, big plans for him. But it depends on the next few months obviously and how he adapts when he comes back.”
Keen was speaking about new centre-backs possibly coming in at Wolves this summer.
Mosquera seemingly set for Wolves first-team role next season
It very much sounds as though Wolves intend to get Mosquera integrated back into the first-team squad for next season.
He was hugely unfortunate in his first season to suffer a serious hamstring injury on his debut, as he had looked very promising in his pre-season after joining the club from Atletico Nacional.
But Wolves do seem to really rate the player and believe in his potential.
His time at Cincinnati was very good and Wolves will now be hoping the player can get more minutes under his belt ahead of his return.
Surely, there won’t be any plans to loan him out again for next season assuming he does fairly well at Villarreal.
