The January transfer window officially opens on Wednesday, and Wolves fans cannot wait to see what the club end up doing.
It’s been a tough old season so far. But the arrival of Vitor Pereira has just breathed new life into the fanbase, with the Portuguese having taken seven points from a possible nine so far.
But Pereira knows that this squad needs reinforcing.
He’s done well so far, but Wolves are short at centre-back following the failure to replace Max Kilman and then Yerson Mosquera suffering a season-ending knee injury.
Toti Gomes has also now picked up a hamstring injury.
Kevin Danso is thought to be Wolves’ top target for January.
But Wolves could potentially look to land two defensive recruits for Pereira next month – and there’s word of a new name on the club’s radar.
Wolves interested in Club Brugge defender Joel Ordonez

It’s been claimed by BBC journalist Nick Mashiter that Wolves now hold a ‘strong interest’ in Club Brugge defender Joel Ordonez.
Ordonez has been with the Belgian outfit since 2022, and has been on an exciting trajectory since.
The 20-year-old, who made his debut for Ecuador earlier this year and now has four caps, is a well-rounded central defender whose performances have also been catching the eye of some big clubs.
It was claimed recently by HLN that both Chelsea and Liverpool are also keen to sign Ordonez.
And in their report on that interest, HLN bring quotes from Ordonez himself, who said: “The Premier League, I would like that.”
What is Joel Ordonez’s style of play?
Since he hails from South America, one might suspect that Ordonez has an aggressive style.
According to a feature piece from the respected site Total Football Analysis a couple of years ago, Ordonez is indeed someone who gets stuck in.
They wrote of him: “Joel Ordonez is a very aggressive front-footed centre-back when it comes to the defensive side of his game. However, he is also not rash in his decision-making, with the young Ecuadorian defender smart when it comes to the challenges he attempts.”
And in the summer of 2022, Football Talent Scout Jacek Kulig – who has a following on X of almost 300,000 these days – likened Ordonez to Antonio Rudiger.
Rudiger is famous for being one of the most physical and aggressive centre-backs around, so Ordonez being similar in terms of style is quite exciting.
Because Wolves have tended not to have particularly aggressive central defenders. Yerson Mosquera was set to be that defender for Wolves before his untimely injury, so it would be great to see someone like Ordonez come in.
