Wolves have offered to triple £21m transfer target’s wages to make Molineux move

Wolves fans are hoping to see some exciting moves in the transfer market from the club this summer.

The feeling at Molineux is high right now, after Vitor Pereira masterminded a six straight Premier League wins.

The latest came against Leicester City, and Wolves really did dominate the already-relegated side.

Pereira’s stock is rising by the week, and fans are really hoping that Fosun will give him the backing he deserves this summer to take the team on.

A number of players will be leaving this summer, with the future of Tommy Doyle up in the air at the moment.

Midfield is a strong area for Wolves, with Joao Gomes and Andre both nailed-on starters.

But Doyle has Championship interest, and Wolves officials may also feel Boubacar Traore will need a loan for next season.

One player who’s been on Wolves’ radar in recent times is Johnny Cardoso, and a new claim has now been made about the Real Betis star.

It was actually reported in January that Wolves made a bid for Cardoso.

The bid was said to be worth around £16 million, which was way short of Real Betis’ valuation.

The interesting thing about Cardoso is that Tottenham Hotspur actually have a clause to buy the USMNT international for £21 million, which was agreed when they signed Giovani Lo Celso.

According to Diario de Sevilla though, Wolves are not put off by this clause Spurs have.

Wanderers have apparently said to Cardoso that they will triple his current wages to make a move to Molineux.

But interest is apparently pretty high in Cardoso across Europe, and it’s not out of the question he could actually sell for more than the £21 million Spurs clause.

£25-29 million is a suggested value, but apparently Spurs would be due 20% if they didn’t match the higher offer.

Cardoso another potentially good ball-winner for Wolves

It will be important for Wolves to strengthen this summer, and bring in players who might just push the really established starters.

Joao Gomes and Andre have a brilliant partnership.

But there can be no harm in bringing someone in who could push them – and Cardoso might just be able to do that.

As per StatMuse, Cardoso currently sits 15th in the table of players across Europe’s top five leagues for interceptions made this season. He has 48, the same number as Real Madrid star Federico Valverde.

We shall see if the Tottenham clause proves problematic. Wolves may well have to pay over the odds to get him, so perhaps the club may look elsewhere in that case.
