Wolves have now made first move to sign ‘reliable’ Tottenham player

Wolves have made the first move in a bid to improve their defensive options ahead of the new season.

Signing a defender should be top priority for Julen Lopetegui and this Wolverhampton Wanderers side.

Last season saw Old Gold play well but ultimately concede too many goals and not score enough.

These are two issues which have yet to be rectified this summer with an underwhelming window.

So far we have seen only Matt Doherty come in that could make a difference defensively.

While Matheus Cunha has came in up front despite that not being his best position.

Now it seems however that Wolves have began searching for a much needed centre-back.

Wolves ‘enquire’ for Sanchez

Wolves‘ search for a new defender has led them to Tottenham Hotspur and their want away centre-back Davinson Sanchez.

According to a report by 90min, Sanchez has found himself the target of a wide range of interest.

It is said Strasbourg and Spartak Moscow are interested in his services but they could face competition from Galatasaray.

However Sanchez also has interest from the Premier League, with Wolves named along with Nottingham Forest and Fulham as clubs credited with an interest.

The report states that all three Premier League clubs have ‘enquired’ about the 54-cap Colombian defender.

What could Sanchez cost Wolves?

It is no secret that Wolves this summer do not have the finances to spend large fees on targets.

This has became evident throughout the Alex Scott saga, which leaves the Molineux side searching for cheap options.

That is exactly what Sanchez would represent despite being a seasoned pro. Although limited game-time, Sanchez is a “reliable player who doesn’t play but works very hard,” according to Antonio Conte.

The 27-year-old would likely command a fee similar to the £12.9million that Spurs had originally accepted from Spartak last month.

For a player with his experience and talent on his day, this fee could be a true steal for the right buyer.
