Wolves have ‘no recall option’ on loan star whose form has caught Barcelona’s attention

Wolves cannot recall one of its most in-form stars from his loan spell in January according to reports.

The upcoming January window could be pivotal for Wolves. With the Old Gold currently in the relegation zone, the battle for Premier League survival is on.

While Gary O’Neil’s long-term future as Wolves manager continues to be speculated, it is unlikely that the club will pull away from the bottom three over the coming weeks.

Therefore, many are hopeful that multiple reinforcements will be brought in during the January window.

It has already been confirmed that Wolves will look to buy a centre-back in January with options currently limited in this position.

On top of this, there were hopes from the Molineux faithful that some of their top-performing loanees would be recalled in this period. However, for one star this is not possible.

In the Dutch Eredivisie, one player who is performing well above expectations is Hugo Bueno

The Wolves loanee joined Feyenoord in the summer transfer window and has already picked up three assists in the league.

On top of this, the Spaniard has participated in Champions League football with the club in a great position to qualify for the knockouts.

Recently, the Feyenoord manager branded Bueno a ‘weapon’ thanks to his form.

As a result, Barcelona have also been linked to Bueno with the Spanish side being one of the most in-form sides in the world.

Therefore, many would think that given Wolves’ recent woes, the club would want to recall the full-back in January.

However, according to John Percy, the Molineux faithful will not be able to see the full-back for the rest of the season.

Wolves do not have a recall option on the loan deal meaning that he will spend the entire 2024/25 campaign with Feyenoord.

Wolves must become more transfer-savvy

It is highly irresponsible of Wolves to not have a recall option for Bueno. As it stands, the club only has one natural left-back and could be caught out if Rayan Ait-Nouri picks up an injury.

Many of the Old Gold’s transfers in recent years have been a detriment to the club and this is another which could damage their future.

Wolves simply need to be more transfer-savvy. Adding a recall option gives the club more flexibility. If Ait-Nouri does pick up a long-term injury in December or January, Wolves would be forced to bring in a replacement, a move that could have easily been avoided.

This is not the first time the club has made bad irresponsible decisions on the transfer front and they must learn from their previous mistakes.
