Wolves have their first signing on the board and are keen to keep the ball rolling.
Wolves completed a move for Fer Lopez earlier this week, with the club forking out around £19.5 million for the Spaniard.
It is the second summer in a row that Wolves have raided Celta Vigo, after signing Jorgen Strand Larsen in 2024.
Wolves fans are now eager to see more recruits follow Lopez to Molineux – and a new central midfielder is on the agenda.
Wolves could be losing Tommy Doyle in this window, with Championship teams interested.
Boubacar Traore may also depart on loan.
So there may well end up being a real need for a new midfielder – and Real Betis midfielder Johnny Cardoso is thought to be of interest to Wolves.
But time is very much of the essence for Molineux officials.
Johnny Cardoso wanted by Wolves, but Atletico are closing in

It’s been claimed by ABC De Sevilla that Wolves have made an approach to Real Betis over Johnny Cardoso.
The USA midfielder was one of the standout performers last season, helping Betis to reach the final of the Europa Conference League and finish sixth in La Liga.
Apparently, Wolves have made contact with Betis to try and understand the conditions of a potential deal.
But it could already be too little, too late for Vitor Pereira.
Because Atletico Madrid supposedly have an agreement on personal terms with Cardoso, and they are now working to close an agreement with Betis.
The two clubs are getting closer to striking a deal according to ABC De Sevilla, but while there isn’t one, there remains a shred of hope for Wolves.
It is stated that Cardoso – who is set to cost around £21 million – is ‘seduced’ by the finances and sporting project on offer from Atleti.
Cardoso will be a struggle for Wolves
Wolves appear to be keen to try and poach Cardoso, who is a player they have had eyes on for quite a while – not just since this summer.
But Wanderers look to be running out of time, with Atletico seemingly close to agreeing a deal with Betis.
If Molineux officials really want Cardoso then they will have to try and blow Atleti out of the water.

But even that might now be enough here, because the player has an agreement on personal terms.
Seemingly, he wants that move – and why wouldn’t he. Atletico are in the Champions League and could surely offer higher wages. That’s even despite Wolves reportedly offering to triple Cardoso’s wages.
Never say never in the transfer market, but Wolves signing Cardoso is surely highly unlikely now, despite the late approach.
