Although they’re unlikely to be relegated to the Championship, Wolves have had a miserable season.
The Old Gold sit just one place above the drop zone but are nine points clear of 18th-placed Ipswich Town and 19th-placed Leicester City.

The form of all the three teams lower than them makes Wolves huge favourites to retain their top-flight status.
And if Wolves keep their place among England’s elite, thanks will be owed to Vitor Pereira, who replaced Gary O’Neil at the end of last year.
However, for this reason, it’s surprising to see the Portuguese manager linked with an early Molineux exit.

Wolves hold talks with possible Vitor Pereira successor
When Pereira joined, Wolves were just inside the relegation zone. O’Neil’s final match in charge resulted in a 2-1 defeat away to West Ham, leaving the side with just nine points after 13 games.
And although Pereira has only managed to improve the Old Gold’s position by one place, the quality of football has certainly improved.
However, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Wolves’ decision-makers have been so disappointed by how the campaign has gone that they’re considering taking a totally new approach.
Open to managing in the Premier League, Roma legend Daniele De Rossi has reportedly emerged as a possible option for several Premier League clubs, including Wolves.
“I would coach abroad and I have improved a foreign language,” the 41-year-old said recently when quizzed over his future.

It’ll never happen
Even though there is no doubting clubs are always keeping their options open and planning for the future, getting rid of Pereira after less than a season in charge would be totally and utterly ridiculous.
Pereira won’t enjoy seeing the side where they are in the table, but as long as the side can survive, the Wolves manager deserves at least a summer transfer window to continue his transformation.
Sacking him now, or at the end of the campaign, and turning to De Rossi, a relatively unproven and inexperienced manager, as proven by his stats above, makes little to no sense…
And that’s without considering the cost of compensating Pereira.
