With Pedro Neto set to depart Wolves in the coming days, finding a new winger is vital. However, they have already hit a stumbling block with potential replacement.
Wolves now have a massive job on their hands in August. Despite the transfer window nearing its end, the club still need multiple new additions.
Gary O’Neil is yet to replace former captain Max Kilman who departed for West Ham last month.
Now, the Old Gold are set to lose another major player in Pedro Neto. Wolves accepted a record £54 million fee from Chelsea for the winger.
However, a potential replacement was reported to be lined up in Carlos Forbs. While talks were not advanced, it was believed that there was interest on Wolves’ side for the winger.
Yet, just hours after this news broke, the Molineux side have already hit a stumbling block in trying to acquire the winger.

Wolves ‘cannot afford’ Ajax’s Carlos Forbs

Forbs is seen as a massive talent in the footballing world. The 20-year-old progressed through Man City’s academy and was scoring for fun for the Citizens’ Under 21s.
As a result, he earned a permanent move to Ajax last summer in search of first-team football.
After a year in the Netherlands, it has now been rumoured that he could return to England and play for Wolves this summer.
However, according to a report by O Jogo, O’Neil’s side cannot afford to sign Forbs. It states that the amount of money requested by Ajax is ‘too high’ for Wolves’ ambitions.
Wolves must have a contingency plan in place for Pedro Neto’s departure

For many, Neto’s departure from Wolves has been inevitable for years. The winger was sensational every time he put on an Old Gold shirt which attracted plenty of interest from other clubs.
Therefore, Wolves must have been ready for his departure. It would be unacceptable for no potential replacements to be lined up and ready for the Neto transfer to go through.
So far this transfer window, fans have already been disappointed that the club has been unable to identify a Kilman replacement.
Over the next few weeks, Wolves must bring in a winger and a centre-back at a minimum to replace their lost stars and replenish the squad’s depth.
