Wolves need to pick up the pace in the summer transfer window as the start of the Premier League season fast approaches.
Vitor Pereira has a plan for the transfer window, but so far, the Old Gold have only welcomed two new faces.
Two almost became three as Wolves were so close to signing Marc Pubill, but Atletico Madrid hijacked the deal at the final stages.
It’s back to square one for Pereira in his hunt to replace Nelson Semedo, and Wolves fans have made it clear that one rumoured target might not be the right fit.

Semedo still hasn’t made up his mind about his future, but it’s almost certain that the Portugal international will find a new club this summer.
As a result, Wolves are planning for life without the free agent, which was why Pubill was considered to be the perfect fit.
The Old Gold have moved on from Pubill, with links to former West Ham defender Vladimir Coufal now surfacing, and it’s fair to say fans aren’t happy.
“So they’ve gone from trying to buy an exciting new talent in Pubill, to this. Just staggering,” a perplexed fan said.
Others agreed that the potential transfer would be ‘utterly embarrassing’, as reactions to the links came flooding in on X.

At 32, Coufal could certainly restore the experience that Semedo offered, but the players’ profiles are very different, raising concern over whether the Czech would fit in at Molineux.

Another fan echoed the disbelief at the lack of progress at the club ahead of their eighth season in the top-flight.
“8th Premier League season and our RB is going to be Vladimir Coufal? Bed.”
Some supporters just couldn’t believe that Wolves might be turning their attention to Coufal after almost completing a deal for a player as exciting as Pubill.

How Coufal compares to Nelson Semedo
Semedo is in the latter stages of his career, but the athleticism that the Portugal international brought to Pereira’s back line was not reflective of his age.
Given how Pereira wants his wing-backs to play, it’s interesting to compare Semedo and Coufal in progressive areas over the 2024/25 Premier League season.

As seen above, Semedo averaged more key passes and created more big chances per game than Coufal, also being better when it came to defensive duties.
Perhaps the most alarming comparison is how Coufal only recorded 11 starts for West Ham last term, suggesting that he wasn’t considered a crucial part of their squad, raising concern over why Wolves might consider him to be a replacement for a key player.
Only time will tell just how strong the links are between Wolves and Coufal, with fans having one thought on the possible transfer.
