The 2024 summer transfer window saw Wolves strike gold with the signings of Jorgen Strand Larsen and Andre, for example, but they also made some terrible decisions.
The sale of Max Kilman to West Ham without replacing him was a fatal error and it continues to bite Wolves while the capture of Carlos Forbs continues to look like poor judgement.
Gary O’Neil signed Forbs on loan from Ajax on transfer deadline day. The 20-year-old was seen as one of multiple replacements for star winger Pedro Neto, who joined Chelsea for £54m.
Sadly, the Portugal under-21 star has endured a torrid time at Molineux, only starting once in the Premier League and totalling just 259 minutes of action in total.
Forbs picked up an injury last week, as revealed by Vitor Pereira before Wolves’ defeat to Arsenal, and this was just the latest blow to his chances of breaking into the manager’s plans.
And now, it’s emerged the young winger could leave the club prematurely.

Wolves fans demand that Carlos Forbs departs Molineux
While Jorgen Strand Larsen’s loan is set to secure his long-term future at Molineux, Forbs is unlikely to seal a permanent transfer to Wolves as conditions in his contract require him to make a considerable number of appearances.

As the Portuguese winger has only made 10 appearances across all competitions so far, Wolves supporters should see nothing of him once his loan expires.
However, it has emerged that the former Manchester City gem could leave prematurely as Ajax are considering recalling Forbs from his loan.
This would be music to the ears of many Wolves fans, who agree that his loan should be terminated after a torrid five months in Wolverhampton.
“A terrible signing by Hobbsy,” one fan wrote while another replied: “Can’t we just send him back.”
“He’s quick but not physically up to the rigours of the Premier League or relegation battle,” a third posted.
“Probably not a bad thing. Two managers don’t fancy him so they must be seeing something in training to switch them off him,” another commented while a sixth said: “If they recall him, it frees up a space to someone who the manager might want to play, so that’s probably best for all.”
“May as well recall him he’s not gonna reach appearances needed to get him on a permanent deal I wonder why we got him in the first place under O’Neil and this manager not really getting a look in,” a seventh responded.
Forbs isn’t good enough for the Premier League
Wolves made the correct decision by signing Forbs on loan instead of wasting money on a permanent transfer.
Some feel that the Ajax loanee is deserving of more chances while others, including expert Liam Keen, think Forbs isn’t good enough for the Premier League.
Speaking on the E&S podcast earlier this month, Keen said: “Forbs can’t get a kick. I know a lot of fans are calling for him to get a game. I’ll be pretty honest, I wouldn’t be calling for him to play, to be honest.
“I think you’re wasting your time. Not because he won’t be able to play, but because I don’t think he’s up to the level.”
This assessment from Keen was a stark warning to Pereira, who may be happy to cancel his loan and sign someone else instead.
