Wolves fans react to Rennes’ Kevin Danso bid – they’re all saying the same thing

Rennes have made a formal offer to sign RC Lens defender Kevin Danso. It remains to be seen if their bid will be accepted.

Despite announcing Emmanuel Agbadou earlier this month, Wolves are looking to bring in one more defender before the January transfer window closes.

Vitor Pereira has been a long-time admirer of Danso with Wolves already having two bids turned down.

And now it seems the Old Gold must act quickly if they’re to bring the Austrian to Molineux.

Rennes make Kevin Danso bid

Rennes are trying to hijack Wolves’ move for Danso. The French side have also been linked with the 26-year-old, but the level of their interest, up until now, hadn’t been known.

However, according to L’Equipe, the Ligue 1 outfit have now backed their interest up and made an offer worth £18.5 million (€22 million) for the Austria international.

Like Pereira, Jorge Sampaoli is in need of defensive reinforcements and would definitely benefit from having Danso among is options.

It remains to be seen if Rennes’ offer will be accepted though — it still falls short of their rivals’ asking price.

RC Lens want a total package worth £25.2 million (€30 million) for Danso, meaning Rennes’ offer is £6.7 million (€8 million) short.

If the Wolves owners are serious about backing Pereira and want to provide him with the players he believes are necessary to avoid relegation, they will need to improve their earlier bids.

After seeing Rennes fail to meet the player’s valuation, but learning how serious they are about landing the centre-back, Wolves will need to return and guarantee £21 million (€25 million) upfront along with an additional £4.2 million (€5 million) in add-ons.

Wolves fans disheartened by latest Danso news

Clearly not having much faith in their owners, a lot of Wolves fans are now expecting the Old Gold to fail in their quest to sign Danso.

Reacting to these latest reports on X, one fan said: “Come on Wolves, wake up, he’ll be gone if we don’t hurry up.”

Another said: “Yeah, he’s not coming.”

A third added: “Another one bites the dust then.”

Another fan chimed in and said: “Enjoy Rennes, Kevin,” with another predicting the club’s ‘wonderful owners’ won’t bother making a third, and improved, offer.

Obviously fearing the worst, many supporters are now expecting Danso to join Rennes raising questions over which, if any, defenders, Pereira will sign before next Monday’s Deadline Day.
