Wolves have apparently turned to Lille’s Sven Botman in their search for a new central defender.
Respected journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the Old Gold are ready to battle Sevilla for the Dutchman.
The Spanish outfit could well be in the market for a new central defender soon with Jules Kounde potentially off to Chelsea.
Botman is still only 21 and he has a very bright future in the game. He also helped Lille win Ligue 1 last term.
He would be a really exciting addition to Wolves’ backline, which looks slightly short of pace right now.
It would be a coup to get Botman ahead of Sevilla, and perhaps Wolves will need to act soon to get in before Kounde leaves.

Some Wolves fans reacted to the news on Twitter and there was genuine excitement.
It’s been clear all summer that Wolves need a new central defender but there haven’t been any targets who would really represent a sign of ambition.
Lille have struggled financially since winning the league and their best players can be picked off.
Here’s how the prospect of Wolves doing that with Botman went down on Twitter:

Omg actually being linked with some quality players. Sign him or Caleta-car and that'd be an incredible. Then get a quality cm and another striker than this window will be really solid

Now this is more like it… keep Adama and neves add Botman and 2/3 more of similar quality and we’re looking at European football

What a signing that would be… not the only player from Lille that Wolves should be signing, although the other is injured 😢
