Tuttomercatoweb claimed that the reigning Premier League champions admire the 30-year-old.

Apparently they see him as a potential backup option.

Of course, in the summer, Pep Guardiola’s side tabled an offer for Harry Kane.

But Tottenham Hotspur stood firm, and City walked away from the deal.

Instead, they have been turning to the likes of Ferran Torres and Gabriel Jesus in the central striking role.

Jimenez is supposedly on their radar though, which is quite the claim considering he has only just come back into the picture.

Back in November he suffered that terrible skull fracture, which ruled him out for the rest of the season.

Jimenez returned for the start of 2021/22, and on Sunday he scored his first of the season and firsts since the incident at Arsenal.

It was a fantastic goal and an emotional moment.

Prior to that, Jimenez had had quite a lot of chances, and also created many for teammates.

He has been playing fairly well, but it is still a surprise to learn of interest from City.

On social media, Wolves fans have not taken too kindly to the claim.

A few believe that City seeing Jimenez as a ‘backup’ is actually slightly insulting:
