Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Romain Saiss has reportedly been sounded out by Rennes as a potential transfer target.
Foot Mercato reported yesterday that the Morocco international would consider a move back to France.
Saiss left the country back in 2016, joining Wolves from Angers for a reported fee of about £3 million (Express & Star).
The now 31-year-old has been a great servant at Molineux.
The star has proven a really handy and capable player over the years.
To date he has clocked up 174 appearances for the club.
He recently saw his contract at Molineux extended, but his future at Wolves is potentially now in some doubt.
Rennes are interested, as per Foot Mercato’s report, but they may not be able to afford his wage demands.
Fans have been reacting on social media to the French club’s supposed interest in Saiss.
He is a player that has tended to divide opinion in the Black Country.
Some don’t rate him, while others believe his versatility and experience are invaluable.
That divide was evident as fans reacted to the Rennes interest:
Good move for him

As much as I like him he’s not at the level we won’t to be & we should look to upgrade whenever we can.

I’d be keeping Saiss all day. Should never be starting unless absolute necessary but covers CB and CM. No real value to come from him and wages towards lower end of scale. I’d have preferred him CM many times last season to donk https://t.co/kKePyQzUMu

Same, no reason to sell Saiss because we won’t get much for him. He’s a great player and great backup as he’s a very versatile player
