Some Wolverhampton Wanderers fans have been reacting to a report (Sic Noticias) that has claimed Joao Moutinho is in talks to rejoin FC Porto.
The 34-year-old is about to head into the final year of his contract at Molineux.
Moutinho joined Wolves in the summer of 2018 from AS Monaco.
It is widely accepted that the maestro is one of the best technical players ever to wear the Old Gold shirt.
Wolves have certainly gotten tremendous value out of their original £5 million investment (BBC Sport).
Moutinho has clocked up 137 appearances for the club, which is a fantastic return for a player of his age.
Sadly in 2020/21 he did show signs of decline, although that did not stop Nuno Espirito Santo picking him regularly.
It remains to be seen what Wolves decide to do.
Realistically there isn’t much chance of the club turning a profit.
But there may well be feeling that Moutinho’s best days after behind him and now is the best time to move him one after three years of great service.
On social media, fans have been reacting to the report.
It seems quite a few would be open to his departure at this point:
Was fantastic in his first season, been downhill ever since. I personally think he’s played too many games. Surely we can’t lose both him and Neves though? Lage loves a technical central midfielder we will need basically a like for like replacement should both go.

Surely we should try and keep him in the back room staff. He could bring a wealth of knowledge to the youngsters. He may want to carry on playing though.

Love Joao but father time is catching up with him. We need younger legs in midfield. He has been brilliant for us but time to move on. If he wanted to coach then keep him on!

He has been magical for us. One of the best players I’ve ever seen wear the shirt.
Moving forward I suspect he would have been used sparingly and then perhaps moved into coaching. If he goes he has nothing but respect and admiration. Happy if he stays too.

It’ll be good business if we can get the same amount as what we paid for him! https://t.co/0FGSopdsSp

If we get back the 5 mil we paid that’s good business https://t.co/jLj01rBiBI
