Wolves fans in full agreement about Jorgen Strand Larsen after new claim, ‘so refreshing’

Wolves fans are nervously waiting to see if Newcastle United will prise Jorgen Strand Larsen away from Molineux before the transfer deadline.

It has been an eventful past 48 hours or so, with the Magpies really stepping up their pursuit of the player.

On Monday, Newcastle failed with a £50 million bid for Strand Larsen.

Then last night, Wolves rejected a bid worth £55 million from Newcastle for Strand Larsen, with the club standing firm after he scored two goals in the 3-2 win over West Ham United in the Carabao Cup.

But it’s been suggested that £60 million might be enough for Wolves to sell Strand Larsen, and we will now see if Newcastle will present an offer totalling that amount.

It is a situation that is far from ideal.

Wolves are trying to strengthen at this point in the window, not lose more key players.

So many have already gone, so to lose Jorgen Strand Larsen at this point would be a disaster.

The pursuit from Newcastle is frustrating, and one that has to be head-turning for the player – but fans are saying the same thing about the number nine.

This cannot be an easy time for Strand Larsen.

He will have anticipated an uneventful end to the transfer window on a personal note, having only turned his move to Wolves permanent for £23 million a couple of months ago.

But he’s emerged as a target for Newcastle, who are offering above his true market value right now.

They really want to sign him, and it’s thought Strand Larsen would be open to the move to Newcastle.

However, it’s been reported by David Ornstein that Strand Larsen is not agitating for the move out of respect for Wolves.

Manager Vitor Pereira has also said Strand Larsen won’t force any move, and fans have heaped praise on the striker for the way he is conducting himself right now.

@Janderson1394: “Don’t want any fan bashing him for being open to going, they have champions league football and will pay him loads more, but he showed how professional he is last night.”

@Anna80094436: “What a bloke 🥰 faultless attitude, really hope Wolves don’t crack 🤞”

@BenGolding2: “Great professional. Hopefully he stays and if he does go next year he gets himself a bigger move than Newcastle.”

@danjo_elo: “See that’s the proper way to go about a transfer. Make the club aware that if possible you’d be open to a move to a bigger club but until it materialises you will work hard and do your best for your current club. Can’t argue with that really fair play.”

@TheWonderofTwo: “Don’t blame him, faultless attitude around recent event, can’t help but respect him. So refreshing after last seasons wailer #wwfc #wolves”

Strand Larsen a credit to himself

Strand Larsen does deserve praise for the way he has handled himself in recent weeks.

You see it all the time these days where footballers try to exert their power and influence and behave in completely the wrong manner.

Alexander Isak is currently doing that at Newcastle, and we’ve seen it at Wolves before with the likes of Matheus Nunes – who went on strike to force a move – and Matheus Cunha, who made it very clear in several ways he was ready to move on, months before actually doing so.

Strand Larsen has kept his head down, not really spoken, trained and last night made a huge impact for Wolves against West Ham, scoring two goals in a comeback win.

He’s the subject of an intense pursuit by Newcastle, and while that has to be distracting, he’s handling the situation very respectfully and that is greatly appreciated. Regardless of however this ends, he is without doubt an example to his fellow professionals.
