Wolves fans have been discussing the idea of Diego Costa signing for the club, following reports of interest (The Times) in the 24-cap Spain international.

Costa’s contract has been terminated at Atletico Madrid, and the player is now on the lookout for a new club.

The 32-year-old had been with Atleti since 2017 after leaving Chelsea, but his second stint with the club was fairly uninspiring.

Diego Simeone now has the likes of Luis Suarez, Joao Felix and Angel Correa at his disposal, and so the decision was taken for Costa to be released from his contract six months early.

The Times say Wolves are interested in Costa as possible cover for the injured Raul Jimenez.

Whether a move can come to fruition remains to be seen.

One would think it might be tricky given Costa had reportedly been on wages of £270,000-a-week at the Wanda Metropolitano.

But Costa obviously knows the Premier League very well having spent three seasons in England with Chelsea, and a move for the Portuguese-speaking striker does make sense.

Wolves are struggling to score goals and the moment, and 18-year-old Fabio Silva has a huge task trying to cover for Jimenez having only just joined the club for big money.

On social media, some Wolves fans think signing Costa would be a no-brainer:
