Wolves fans are crying out for Manchester City star who’s just been made available

Wolves fans are eagerly anticipating the January transfer window after seeing the disastrous start to their season in the Premier League.

Fosun backed Vitor Pereira in the summer with six new Wolves signings, as well as the permanent capture of Jorgen Strand Larsen after his loan last season.

Five of Wolves’ goals this season have come from new signings Ladislav Krejci, Tolu Arokodare and David Moller-Wolfe, but consistency has been a real issue across the board.

Jeff Shi on Wolves’ summer transfer window business

“I think it is a good window. The key purpose of the window is to help the coach. We tried to base the squad on Vitor Pereira’s view. Of course we didn’t achieve 100% of the signings we wanted, but I think we are 90% there.”

Interestingly, Jeff Shi has vowed to back Rob Edwards in the January transfer window with more new signings, but the focus will shift to experienced players in England.

Lucky for Wolves, there’s a player who fits the mould perfectly and he happens to have just been made available by his Premier League club.

Wolves fans call for James Trafford to be signed in January

According to the Manchester Evening News, the departure of James Trafford from Man City looks ‘inevitable’ given his ambitions aren’t going to be met at the Etihad.

Wolves fans didn’t take long to spot the news on X and gave a pretty clear response.

@keiran_wwfc has made his mind up: “Get him in.”

@MDU_2615 stated: “100% bring him in. Spend some coin. I know our ownership will find it surprising but having a keeper who can stop shots helps”

@OhAnotherWolf joined the discussion: “I’d love that.”

Jose Sa’s future up for debate at Wolves

Jose Sa established himself as the Wolves number one after Rui Patricio’s exit at Molineux, but things have gone downhill over the past year.

Vitor Pereira was reported to be prioritising a goalkeeper signing in the summer transfer window, which led to speculation over the Portuguese. However, nothing came to fruition.

He hasn’t done himself any favours in the current campaign, letting in 15 goals in just five games in all competitions, which has seen him lose his spot to Sam Johnstone.

Which position do Wolves need to prioritise in January?

Sa has already put in one of the top ten worst performances in the Premier League this season against Manchester City on the opening day.

On the other hand, Trafford showed exactly what he’s capable of last season, helping Burnley secure promotion to the top-flight and breaking the record for the most clean sheets in a single Championship season (29). He also went on a streak of 12 consecutive clean sheets, totaling 1,000 minutes without conceding.

A loan deal would make sense for Wolves, but it’s going to be extremely difficult to persuade a player who attracted attention from the likes of Newcastle United prior to moving to the Etihad.
