Wolves facing potential Christantus Uche repeat as ominous transfer update on £52m gem emerges

Wolves are facing competition from Crystal Palace to sign a player they have tracked for quite some time.

The summer transfer window only closed a few weeks ago, but there is already speculation about who Wolves could move for in January.

Potentially, it is looking like Wolves may need to strengthen, having made a poor start in the Premier League taking just one point from the first six games.

Wolves had a very strange summer, with none of the six new players that came in having any Premier League experience.

While signing players from overseas is obviously fine, many felt Wolves needed one or two who knew the English top-flight given how many players were leaving the club.

One player Wolves could move for in January though is another from overseas, Wallace Yan.

But an ominous claim has been made today about the young Brazilian.

Wallace Yan is a player Wolves have admired for a while now.

They had been tracking him before the Club World Cup, and then the youngster really caught the eye for Flamengo at the tournament in the US.

It was recently claimed that Wolves could go back in for Wallace in January, with the starlet lacking game time of late.

But now, according to journalist Julio Miguel Neto, via Bolavip, fellow Premier League side Crystal Palace have opened talks with the player ahead of the January window.

He says on X that Wolves are still monitoring the player.

It is stated that ‘talks have been going on for some time and should be intensified in the next transfer window’. Flamengo are aware of the talks.

Wallace is said to have a £52 million release clause for clubs overseas, but there’s an expectation he’ll sell for an amount far below this figure.

So Wallace appears to be coveted by Palace, meaning Wolves will face a challenge to land the South American gem.

Undoubtedly, Palace are an attractive project right now.

They’ve got a brilliant manager in Oliver Glasner, won the FA Cup earlier this year and are playing in the Europa Conference League. They’re also showing impressive competitiveness in the Premier League and are currently third.

Wolves fans will remember that Palace managed to beat Wolves to the signing of Christantus Uche in the last transfer window.

Wolves had been on course to sign Uche, but Jorge Mendes’ behaviour reportedly turned him and his agent off.

It was also claimed the salary package was deemed not suitable by Uche and his agent.

In the end, the Nigeria international completed a transfer to Selhurst Park for around £17 million.
