Wolves have a battle on their hands to sign Hugo Ekitike, who is now being targeted by Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt.
Gary O’Neil is out to sign a new centre-forward this month, and the club are currently looking at several options.
Che Adams is someone who has been mentioned a few times again recently, with the Southampton striker a player the club attempted to land last summer.
Danny Ings has also been reported as a target.
But Hugo Ekitike is someone Wolves have now had a long-standing interest in, and the Paris Saint-Germain youngster is expected to leave the Parc des Princes after a severe lack of minutes this season.
Wolves are said to have made an approach, but the club are facing a battle now because Eintracht Frankfurt appear to be emerging in the race…
Wolves face fight from Eintracht Frankfurt for Hugo Ekitike, he is tempted by the move

Ekitike has played just eight minutes this season for PSG and is not a player Luis Enrique counts on.
The club are said to be happy to loan Ekitike out or even sell him this window. One would imagine the former would be more likely.
It has been reported by Foot Mercato that following interest from Wolves and Wolfsburg, Ekitike now has interest from Eintracht Frankfurt.
Apparently, officials at Eintracht are very confident of landing the player this month, and the player is supposedly ‘rather tempted by the adventure proposed’. He is curious about playing in the Bundesliga as ‘he believes he can develop his qualities in the best possible way’.
Should Ekitike make this move, then obviously it would see him link up with Sasa Kalajdzic, who has joined for the rest of the season on loan from Wolves.
Wolves could miss out on Ekitike
So it sounds as though Eintracht feel good about landing Ekitike, meaning Wolves may now be up against it to sign him.
Matt Hobbs said earlier this week about Wolves’ position in January: “There’s no rush. As big clubs will spend money, other players become available. You don’t want to move too early and better players become available later in the window. We need to find the right person to add to our squad moving forward.”
Seemingly, Wolves will take their time this month to ensure the right player comes in. But if they feel Ekitike – dubbed ‘very special’ by his old coach at Reims Oscar Garcia – is that player, then they may now need to hurry up.
It’s possible though that the club will end up moving for Che Adams, who is older than Ekitike and has Premier League experience.
