Wolves eye ‘unbelievable’ former Arsenal gem who scored 27 goals last season, he could leave for £40m

Wolves are still in the market for new forwards – and the club have now been linked with a former Arsenal prospect who has been shining bright since leaving Hale End.

Wolves are set to sign Jhon Arias, with an official announcement expected very soon.

Arias will likely operate as one of the two number 10s for Wolves, although he can also play as a supporting striker.

There has been talk of Wolves signing a new striker to compete with and cover Jorgen Strand Larsen.

At the moment, Strand Larsen is Wolves’ main out-and-out striker.

Sasa Kalajdzic and Fabio Silva are with the squad at the moment, but both are linked with exits. Silva is especially likely to leave Wolves permanently.

If both go, then Wolves will surely go after a number nine – and apparently AS Monaco hotshot Mika Biereth has emerged as a potential target.

It has been claimed by Caught Offside that Wolves are one of a few clubs showing interest in Mika Biereth.

Biereth plays for AS Monaco, and has really impressed since joining them in January of this year from Sturm Graz.

He’s already hit 13 goals in 19 appearances for the French outfit, which followed 14 for Sturm Graz.

So 27 goals in total in 2024/25 has inevitably brought him some attention.

Caught Offside say their sources have told them that Newcastle United, Wolves, Aston Villa and Everton all have an interest.

Biereth is a name that some fans of English football may recognise, as he was on the books of Arsenal a few years ago.

He never made an appearance for the first-team though, and went out on loan several times. He left Arsenal to join Sturm Graz on loan in January 2024, turning the move permanent that summer.

Biereth is a serious talent who is sure to move on from Monaco before too long.

He’s only been with them for half a year, but the Denmark international is making rapid progress in his development, and it is little wonder there is transfer speculation surrounding him.

He is a young player who certainly knows where the goal is, and is capable of going on serious hot streaks.

Last term, he hit three consecutive hat-tricks in home games, and GFFN reported via the Guardian: “He scored a goal every 67 minutes in the league and he has the best shots-to-goal ratio in the division, with over a third of his efforts finding the back of the net.”

Yousuf Sajjad, a former recruitment chief at Arsenal, said of Biereth when he was there (via One Football): “Mika was one that we looked at for about a year before we signed him. His finishing is obviously unbelievable but it’s the personality that he showed that really captured our eyes.”

Caught Offside say they’ve been told Biereth could be allowed to leave for around £40 million this summer.

Wolves don’t spend that kind of money on single players these days, especially having already been down that route with Fabio Silva.

A move would surely be highly unlikely, especially as Biereth, 22, would probably expect to be a regular starter.
