Wolves are interested in signing Euro 2024 star who is believed to be available for €30 million but face competition from Chelsea and Aston Villa.
Wolves have been highly active in the transfer market thus far. Three new faces have joined Gary O’Neil’s squad already with Max Kilman departing for West Ham.
This has left a big hole at the back – a position that was already weak at the club. Wolves’ last clean sheet in all competitions came back in February, in a 1-0 victory over Brighton in the FA Cup.
As a result, it has become clear that a centre-back is needed. It has been reported that four potential Max Kilman replacements have already been shortlisted.
However, Wolves may have now found an alternative option but face competition from other Premier League sides.

Wolves have ‘strong interest’ in defender Strahinja Pavlovic

Strahinja Pavlovic is a centre-back who currently makes his trade for Red Bull Salzburg. The Serbian is a regular international and played against England in Euro 2024.
According to CaughtOffside, Wolves are believed to hold a strong interest in the defender due to his performances in the European Championships.
Serbia only conceded two goals throughout their entire tournament but went out in the group stage with only two points.
It is believed that the Austrian side wants around €30 million for Pavlovic with plenty of teams interested. In the Premier League, Chelsea, Newcastle and Aston Villa are all believed to eyeing the defender, with the former two considering a €25 million bid. On top of this, AC Milan are also in the race.
The article goes on to say that it wasn’t yet clear where the defender desires to play his football next season and it could go down to who offers the most money.
Wolves should not be dragged into a bidding war for Strahinja Pavlovic

While Pavlovic is clearly a talent, Wolves cannot afford to be dragged into a bidding war for the defender.
The 23-year-old only played a handful of games at Euros making it hard to judge his ability.
Wolves need a Kilman replacement quickly so O’Neil can start to develop a centre-back partnership at the back throughout pre-season.
If the club got sucked into a transfer saga it could potentially last the entire summer, especially with the teams interested. This would no doubt damage the club’s start to the campaign given the weight of the sides they face.
If they do choose to pursue Pavlovic, they must be cautious.
