Wolves fans can’t wait for the January transfer window – but a surprise name has now been linked with the club.
Wolves have made an awful start to the 2024/25 season are currently sit 19th in the Premier League table, with Gary O’Neil on the brink of the sack.
He takes the team against West Ham United tonight, but many feel as though it will be his last game in charge – perhaps even if Wolves win the game.
Speculation was rife about his future after the defeat to Everton, and it’s a major surprise for many that he is still in charge of this game.
Him making it to January seems a huge stretch now, but Molineux officials continue to work away on potential targets – and it seems Wolves are interested in Brazil international striker Igor Jesus.
Wolves, Nottingham Forest and Everton interested in Igor Jesus

It has been reported by UOL that Wolves are showing interest in Igor Jesus, with a view to a potential January swoop.
Jesus plays his football with Botafogo, and has four caps for the Brazil national team.
He joined Botafogo earlier this year and has eight goals and five assists in 30 games so far. He joined Botafogo from Shabab Al Ahli, where he spent four years and had a prolific record of 43 goals in 88 appearances. Jesus also made 20 assists.
So far this year, it’s been a very productive 2024 for Jesus, who has scored 25 goals in total for clubs and country.
Before his move to the Dubai club, he was at Coritiba.
The report also claims that English clubs are looking at Corinthians striker Yuri Alberto, who is a player Wolves fans may remember after he was linked with a move to the club at the start of this year.
But it’s stated Wolves are more interested in Jesus, Southampton and West Ham United more keen on Alberto.
FIFA ran a feature on Jesus back in October, and featured quotes from the player himself suggesting he was like Vinicius Jr among others. He said: “
“The national team has a very pacey attack when you look at players like Vinicius, Rodrygo and [Gabriel] Martinelli. I think my game is quite similar to theirs. I like to try to attack the spaces and I am mobile – I don’t just stay in the box”
Wolves do not need Igor Jesus
It’s intriguing to see a claim that Wolves are interested in a striker, because there is a clear need for Wolves to bring in a centre-back.
This term, scoring goals has not been the issue.
Both Matheus Cunha and Jorgen Strand Larsen have been in great form, and Wolves have not really had any issues in the final third.
The major issue has been the defending, with Wolves also having lost Yerson Mosquera to a season-ending knee injury.
Perhaps moving for Jesus shows that Goncalo Guedes could be leaving Wolves, with Villarreal keen. That would be the only way in which a move would make sense.
