Wolves defender now set to seal last-gasp loan exit to Europa League club

It has been a transfer deadline to forget for Wolves with just one new player signing, and to finish one more player has left on loan.

Wolves signed Tolu Arokodare earlier today, with the striker arriving in a £24 million deal from Genk.

Wolves fans had hoped for a couple more additions, with a midfielder high on the agenda.

But Wolves failed to sign anyone, with the free agent market now the only means of bringing someone to the club.

The 2025 summer window will go down as one of the worst in recent Wolves history, and be mostly remembered for all the outgoings.

And tonight, perhaps inevitably, there was one more outgoing.

Pedro Lima only joined Wolves a year ago from Sport Recife.

In 2024/25, he made six appearances for the first-team, with Nelson Semedo playing the vast majority of the games, and Rodrigo Gomes filling in here and there and also Matt Doherty before his position change.

There was always a chance that he could leave on loan.

And that has happened in the last moments, with journalist Felipe Luna sharing an image on X of Lima in an FC Porto shirt.

Lima will spend the season with the Portuguese giants, with another journalist Felipe Silva reporting the deal will be announced soon.

The move comes somewhat out of the blue, especially after it was reported earlier this summer that Wolves wanted to loan Lima to an English club.

In the last moments the move has now been officially announced, meaning there were three loan exits on deadline day in total for Wolves, the others being Harvey Griffiths and Dexter Lembikisa, who have joined Lincoln City and Crewe Alexandra respectively.

Lima loan deal doesn’t include option to buy

Mais Futebol have reported tonight that the loan move won’t include an option to buy, despite initial suggestions to the contrary.

It is also stated that the plan is for Lima to train with the first-team, but mainly play for the B team.

But presumably, there would be scope for Lima to eventually play first-team games if he impresses.
