Wolves could use Dan Bentley to secure England international’s signature from Arsenal

Wolves could offer Dan Bentley to Arsenal as part of a player swap deal to secure the signing of an England international.

A surprising transfer saga that has developed this summer is the future of Wolves’ backup goalkeeper Bentley

The ‘keeper only made a handful of appearances last season but struggled for consistent form.

However, this has not stopped Premier League giants Arsenal from pursuing the goalkeeper.

Bentley previously came through the capital side’s academy and is now wanted by Mikel Arteta to serve as a backup.

Over recent weeks, both sides have struggled to come to an agreement. Arsenal’s bids for Bentley were rebuffed by Wolves earlier this summer.

Now, Wolves may use this interest to secure the services of fellow goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale as part of a player swap deal.

Wolves have been linked to Aaron Ramsdale throughout the past year. The goalkeeper, who is from Staffordshire, struggled for consistent game time in the 2023/24 campaign after the arrival of David Raya from Brentford.

This summer, the Spaniard has since made his transfer to Arsenal permanent for £27 million, casting further doubt on Ramsdale’s future at the Gunners.

On the Wolves front, questions over Jose Sa’s future in Old Gold have loomed throughout 2024

According to The Mirror, Wolves may now try to use Bentley to secure Ramsdale’s services as part of a player-plus-cash deal.

The England international does not want to backup at Arsenal again this season and could become the number one ‘keeper at Molineux

It is unclear how much cash Wolves would need to add for Ramsdale, but it was reported by the Athletic last month that it could be around £30 million

While Sa has been a fantastic ‘keeper for Wolves over recent years, it is unclear how long he will remain between the sticks.

The coaching staff have already cast doubts on Sa’s passing abilities and if Ramsdale is available they may look to cash in.

The Portuguese international will turn 32 years old in the upcoming season whereas Ramsdale is only 26 years old and will count as a homegrown player.

Therefore, the Arsenal goalkeeper could maintain his position as Wolves’ number one for many years.
