Wolves are set to lose Daniel Podence before the summer transfer window closes however, he’s not the only player who could leave.

Goncalo Guedes could leave Wolves on Deadline Day

Earlier this week, O’Neil said that Podence and Goncalo Guedes would stay at Wolves beyond Deadline Day.

Instead, the manager could now be forced to eat his words as both players have been linked to an exit.

Podence is the most likely to leave, with a transfer to Al-Shabab on the table as the boss confirmed in his press conference.

While the winger has his heart set on a move to Saudi Arabia, a return to Spain for Guedes could be on the cards.

Spanish outlet Marca reported today that Villarreal are ‘looking’ at signing Guedes, with the forward being a player that Marcelinho regards highly from his 2023/24 loan spell.

A lot of the interest has to do with Arnaut Danjuma’s future, as Villarreal see Guedes as a player who could replace the former Everton forward.

It was only this week that journalist Liam Keen claimed that Guedes was ‘almost certain to stay’ at Wolves, with another possible U-turn on the cards at Compton.

Guedes and Podence were unlikely to stay at Wolves

The tale of Guedes and Podence has been one of great uncertainty this summer, with the narrative of the duo’s stance at Wolves changing.

On their return to the club this summer, it was assumed that the pair would leave almost automatically however, pre-season saw a different story emerge.

The two forwards played a part in O’Neil’s squad during the summer, and both impressed this week against Burnley in the Carabao Cup.

As a result, the outlook on the duo has changed leading up to Deadline Day, with the transfer window now having the potential to throw another curveball in their direction.

Podence looks certain to depart although, there could still be a chance that Guedes stays put.
