Wolves fans will feel a sense of relief as the January transfer window is on the verge of opening.
Wolves have seen their fortunes improve dramatically under Portuguese boss Vitor Pereira having collected seven points from a possible nine in the Premier League.
From being rooted in 19th position before Gary O’Neil was sacked, the Old Gold are now trending upwards and currently reside in 17th position – two points above 18th place Leicester City.
Pereira has brought incredible energy to Wolves and he couldn’t be happier with the start he’s made however, he must make improvements to his squad in the January transfer window.
Their main priority is signing a new centre-back, and Kevin Danso is already Wolves top transfer target, with the Austrian previously being linked.
However, the powerful defender isn’t the only star mooted with a transfer to Molineux as Pereira scouts the English Championship.

Wolves ready offer for Millwall defender Japhet Tanganga
With Wolves looking to sign two defenders at least in January, the transfer rumours are heating up.
The Old Gold have shown an interest in Joel Ordonez, the highly-rated centre-back from Club Brugge, while earlier on in December, Wolves were linked with Ben Godfrey.
Now, it’s emerged that Pereira is looking at another English defender. Daily Express journalist Charlie Gordon has reported that the Wanderers are interested in Millwall star Japhet Tanganga and could make an offer next month.
It is believed the Championship side are unwilling to part ways with the 25-year-old midway through the season unless a sizeable offer is made and there is agreement between Tanganga and the club that they at least listen to top-flight interest.
Who is Japhet Tanganga
Tanganga is a highly-rated ball-playing centre-back who came through the academy at Tottenham and appeared 50 times for the first team.
When Jose Mourinho was manager of Spurs, the Portuguese tactician dubbed the Englishman as ‘amazing’ in January 2020 after performed brilliantly on his Premier League debut against Liverpool.
“The kid has reason to be very happy with his level, not with the result obviously, but with his first game in the Premier League,” Mourinho said via The Standard.
“It couldn’t be a bigger one and he did it amazingly.
“I think it’s a good moment for him and I think it’s also a message for the kids in the academy that when the player is the right player with the right attitude and right qualities, the opportunity arises.”
With the level of competition ahead of him at Tottenham, Tanganga never nailed down a spot in the starting lineup – despite Mourinho’s glowing praise – and has since flourished at Millwall in the Championship.
The Lions signed Tanganga on a permanent deal in the summer after he flourished on loan last term. He’s appeared 20 times in the second tier this season while averaging 1.65 tackles, 2.9 aerials won and 4.8 clearances per game.
Now, with Wolves showing interest, he could be destined for a return to the Premier League, as predicted by his former manager, Neil Harris.
