Wolves could dent Newcastle transfer hopes as Vitor Pereira eyes up £5m starlet

Wolves’ recruitment team has seemingly put a heavy emphasis on South American talent as of late, with yet another Latin American star on their radar.

The successful signings of Joao Gomes and Andre have seen Wolves keep a closer eye on the South American region during the past few windows.

New director of football Domenico Teti has seemingly carried on this trend, with Wolves now scouting Wallace Yan from Flamengo.

Brazil isn’t the only South American nation Wolves are targeting, though, with Colombian talent also on the club’s shortlist.

Wolves interested in Jordan Barrera

Fer Lopez’s arrival at Molineux has helped ease the burden of Matheus Cunha’s departure, but there are still further numbers needed in the attacking department.

This has seen Wolves make contact for Lucas Ferreira, as well as Real Betis’ Jesus Rodriguez.

But with both those deals looking difficult, Wolves may turn to another of their attacking targets – namely Jordan Barrera.

That is according to Colombian journalist William Figueroa, who claims the Molineux outfit are among a number of sides interested in the Atletico Junior attacking midfielder.

Other clubs such as Sevilla, RB Salzburg and Eintracht Frankfurt are said to be keen, with Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce also holding an interest.

Barrera has also caught Newcastle’s attention

As well as the clubs listed above, fellow Premier League outfit Newcastle United have also been credited with an interest in Barrera.

Back in April, Italian publication Area Napoli mentioned the Magpies when covering Napoli’s interest in the Colombian attacker.

The report claimed that Eddie Howe’s side were targeting a summer swoop for Barrera, with Atletico Junior likely to accept an offer in the region of £5 million, plus a percentage on a future sale.

It is unknown whether Newcastle will act on their interest, potentially opening the door for Wolves to swoop in and secure the Colombian’s services.
