Wolves’ focus is now back on the transfer window after a big win over Aston Villa – and it’s been suggested this morning that the club go after a long-term target.
Wanderers have just over a day left to get new players through the door.
Wolves have missed out on top target Kevin Danso to Tottenham Hotspur, who executed a successful hijack of the deal.
Vitor Pereira is hopeful Wolves will land a new centre-back and midfielder before tomorrow night’s deadline, and it’s a huge moment for the club.
Depending on what Matt Hobbs and co do, it could mean the difference between going down and staying up.
It’s thought Mario Lemina could leave, with Torino interested. Galatasaray have also been linked with Lemina this month.
A new midfielder is on the agenda, and Wolves could now swoop for Josh Brownhill.
Wolves, Everton and Brentford could make late push for Josh Brownhill

It’s been reported by talkSPORT’s Alex Crook that Wolves could now make a late play for Josh Brownhill of Burnley.
He wrote on X earlier today: “One to keep an eye on potentially between now and tomorrow is Josh Brownhill #BrentfordFC, #EFC & #Wolves could all consider a late move for the Burnley midfielder whose contract is up in the summer.
“Also pre-contract interest from clubs in Italy, France and Turkey.”
Brownhill stands to leave Turf Moor at the end of the season when his contract expires.
The Englishman, who captains the club, has made 196 appearances of the club in total, and has turned out 111 times in the Premier League.
Brownhill is a long-term Wolves target
It will be interesting to see if Wolves do make a push for Brownhill, who was a £9 million (BBC Sport) signing for Burnley in 2020.
He is a player who has been linked a few times with Wolves over the last few years and seems to be firmly on the club’s radar.
Wolves were first linked with Brownhill in 2021 when Nuno Espirito Santo was in charge. The club were said to have been scouting him.
It was claimed in December 2023 that Wolves were interested in Brownhill again, with Gary O’Neil reported to be a big admirer of the player.
For various reasons, a move for Brownhill to Wolves has never materialised, but with Wolves now really scrambling for a new midfielder, perhaps he could finally join the club.
