Wolves have secured their second signing of the Vitor Pereira era at Molineux, with midfielder Marshall Munetsi putting pen to paper.
Pereira and co. had been on the look out for a new midfield signing throughout the entirety of the 2025 winter transfer window. They came close to securing their prime target Manu Silva in mid-January, submitting a bid of £10m for the 23-year-old before Portuguese giants Benfica hijacked the deal in the eleventh hour.
Since the transfer bid to sign Silva fell through, the Old Gold have been linked with a whole host of midfield targets including Johnny Cardoso, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Volodymyr Brazhko and Marshall Munetsi.
In the final hours of the transfer window, Wolves were able to make a late, and successful, bid for the latter, with Munetsi arriving at Molineux from Ligue 1 side Reims for an undisclosed fee before confirmation came in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Wolves announce signing of Marshall Munetsi from Reims
In an official release from the club, Wolves confirmed that Munetsi had put pen to paper on a 3.5-year deal at Molineux.
Speaking after the deal was confirmed Wolves’ Sporting Director Matt Hobbs said: “It was important for us that Vitor has a number of options in each position and Marshall is a well-rounded midfielder who is physically up for the challenge of the Premier League.
“Marshall’s played with Agba, who has settled quickly into the group, and now he’ll have the support of everyone here at the club. He’ll be another option for Vitor and we’re looking forward to having him as part of the club.”
What Wolves fans can expect from Munetsi
The 28-year-old is a Zimbabwe international, earning 23 caps thus far with his country, and has spent the last five seasons at Ligue 1 outfit Reims – where he played with fellow Wolves winter signing Emmanuel Agbadou.
Munetsi was a metronomic presence in the heart of Reims midfield in his 159 appearances for the club, breaking up play and also providing some quality on the ball too.
Ligue 1 Season | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
2019/20 | 27 | 1 | 0 |
2021/22 | 24 | 5 | 2 |
2022/23 | 34 | 7 | 4 |
2023/24 | 27 | 4 | 4 |

What will please Wolves fans most about Munetsi is his surprising eye for goal.
Despite playing the large bulk of his football at Reims as a holding midfielder – and even as a centre-back on 14 occasions – Munetsi has been able to chip in with an impressive number of goal contributions. In total, the Zimbabwe international scored 21 Ligue 1 goals for the club, and set up a further 14 for his teammates.
