Wolves avoided major transfer mistake after the latest news out of Crystal Palace

Wolves missed out on numerous targets in the summer, but perhaps the biggest and most notable was Christantus Uche.

The Nigerian looked set to switch Getafe for the Old Gold, but meddling between intermediaries caused the Uche deal to stumble, and ultimately it collapsed.

The 22-year-old did not have to wait long to secure a move to the Premier League following the saga, with Crystal Palace swooping in to sign him instead.

However, Uche has been left warming the bench at Selhurst Park, and the latest news shows that Wolves may actually be happy the deal never went through.

Crystal Palace want to get rid of Christantus Uche

Christantus Uche has found it tough in England after joining Crystal Palace, and it looks like he could already be on his way out.

Reports from journalist Alan Nixon state that both parties are looking to end his time at the Premier League club.

Nixon reports via his Patreon, “Crystal Palace are ready to let new boy Christantus Uche go back to Getafe in January.

“The Nigerian midfielder came on loan with a view to a buy but has failed to make an impact, and all parties are looking into a get-out in the window.

“Uche has made a couple of appearances but does not seem to be Oliver Glasner’s type, and Eagles will now look for a replacement in that area.”

The news will be a relief for Wolves, as Uche was one of their main targets, and missing out on him could have been a big regret.

If the former Getafe man succeeded for the Eagles, it would have been a poor reflection on the board for letting a deal that was so close to completion slip through their hands.

Another attacker is needed for Wolves in January

Wolves are light in creativity up top, and for that reason, they need to sign another forward.

While they did miss out on Christantus Uche in the summer, January offers them a chance to rectify the situation.

The glaring hole left by Matheus Cunha is still evident, and that role needs to be filled in the upcoming window.

Which position do Wolves need to prioritise in January?

The Old Gold are reportedly letting their recruitment team take charge, and this will be a relief for fans, as the last window was largely influenced by Vitor Pereira and Domenico Teti.
