Wolves have been locked in a battle with AC Milan to sign Almeria right-back Marc Pubill, and although a positive update was confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, the Old Gold still need to complete one important step.
Wolves identified Marc Pubill as their top target to replace captain Nelson Semedo, whose departure from Molineux is awaiting official confirmation.
Fabrizio Romano revealed last week that Pubill preferred a move to AC Milan after undergoing a preliminary medical in Barcelona.
But in a shock twist, it was reported that his expected move to the Italian giants had ‘fallen apart’, opening the door for Wolves to pounce.
Romano then confirmed that Wolves are close to reaching an agreement for Pubill, and a deal could be complete in the next 24 to 48 hours. However, the Wanderers still need to finalise an important step.

Almeria haven’t received a ‘formal offer’ from Wolves for Marc Pubill
According to Spanish outlet Marca, Wolves continue to ‘lead the race’ for the 22-year-old, but Almeria haven’t received a ‘formal offer in writing’ as it stands.
It was stated that Wolves have bid £13m for the youngster, including add-ons and a sell-on clause pencilled in.
Though since those terms haven’t been published in writing, it could alert Milan to launch a definitive offer for Pubill.
As it stands, Wolves remain in the driving seat for his signature, but they must act rapidly to complete the signing as it’s clear the Spaniard would prefer a move to the Italian giants.
So, with Jhon Arias undergoing his medical at Molineux, the Old Gold must wrap up a transfer for the Almeria defender and signal their intent to match Vitor Pereira’s ambitions in 2025/26.

What Wolves need after Pubill and Jhon Arias
Wolves have stepped their foot on the gas in the transfer window, and currently, the Wanderers are close to wrapping their second and third signings after Fer Lopez.
According to The Telegraph, Wolves will prioritise three positions in the market after completing deals for Arias and Pubill, with Pereira shopping for a left wing-back, central midfielder and centre forward.
Pereira was left frustrated by the lack of transfer activity last week, urging the Wanderers hierarchy to get a shift on and make further additions to his squad.
The signing of Arias and potential arrival of Pubill will make him somewhat happier, but there is still a long way to go before his squad is prepared, and targeting the above three positions can be the catalyst for a successful season.
