Wolves are still keeping tabs on 25-year-old ‘powerhouse’ Sasa Kalajdzic knows well

Wolves are reportedly still keeping tabs on Konstantinos Mavropanos this summer.

Julen Lopetegui has not been shy in saying how he feels about the current situation at the club.

The Spaniard wants new faces at Molineux – and he wants them now.

But it’s difficult, because Wolves are trying to operate without breaking FFP rules.

A number of players have already left the club and apparently a few more outgoings are needed before Wolves can start bringing people in.

One position that needs to be addressed soon is centre-half.

Lopetegui has just three options right now in the form of Craig Dawson, Max Kilman and Toti Gomes.

But apparently, the club are still keeping an eye on a player they were linked with a few months ago.

Wolves still keen on Konstantinos Mavropanos

According to The Sun, Wolves are still keeping tabs on Konstantinos Mavropanos, as are West Ham United.

The Premier League duo also face competition from Serie A champions Napoli.

Napoli have lost Kim Min-jae to Bayern Munich this summer and are looking to replace the South Korean. Wolves’ Kilman is thought to be on their radar.

Mavropanos plays for Stuttgart, where he’s been since 2020 (initially on loan from Arsenal).

After struggling at Arsenal he has impressed in Germany.

According to a report from the Nottingham Post, Mavropanos apparently has a £21 million release clause.

But Stuttgart would apparently be willing to let the player go for somewhere in the region of £12.8-£17 million.

Mavropanos would be a great signing for Wolves

Hopefully Wolves are able to get their finances in order so that Mavropanos can be signed.

It didn’t work out for him at Arsenal, but the 25-year-old is a much better player these days.

Mavropanos has been described by the official Bundesliga website as a ‘powerhouse’, and ‘a central defender with an attacking gene’.

He’s got eight goals for Stuttgart in 89 games, and it would be good for Wolves to have a defender who can chip in every now and then – just like Romain Saiss used to do.

Maybe there would be a good chance of a deal if Wolves can find the money.

After all, Wolves landed Sasa Kalajdzic from Stuttgart last year. Mavropanos may like to link back up with his former teammate.
