Wolves are closing in on a move for Santiago Bueno – and an interesting claim has been made regarding the defender.
The ball is now rolling for Wanderers, after a summer of stagnation on the incomings front.
Matheus Nunes is on the verge of joining Manchester City, with an agreement now in place between the two clubs.
Tommy Doyle is heading to Molineux on loan as part of the deal.
But Wolves are also set to sign South American duo Enso Gonzalez and Bueno, with the latter being a central defender.
It looks like it will get over the line, with the player supposedly doing a medical today – and now, an interesting claim has been made about Bueno.
Julen Lopetegui apparently recommended Bueno to the Wolves board, but was ignored
According to El Nacional, Bueno is not actually a player that has sprung out of nowhere for Wolves officials.

The publication suggest that former Wolves manager Lopetegui actually recommended his name to the board in the first months of the market. But they ignored him.
It is stated that Wolves officials recently travelled to Barcelona to meet with Bueno’s representatives.
A deal is now expected to go through, despite Lopetegui being long gone at Wolves.
A very interesting claim about Santiago Bueno
So Bueno was reportedly recommended to the Wolves board by former Wolves boss Lopetegui.
One wonders how he’ll feel seeing Wanderers actually bringing in a player he wanted, now that he is no longer the manager.
But Lopetegui knew what the situation was at Wolves.

The goalposts may have been moved on more than one occasion. But Lopetegui did know that there wasn’t money to spend at the time.
He could have stayed for the challenge, and he might have ended up working with Bueno. But he opted to leave.
Seemingly, Wolves are now be able to land Bueno because Nunes is leaving. It is thought the midfielder’s sale will bring in at least £47 million.
