Wolves and Jackson Tchatchoua ‘one step away’ after agreeing to Verona’s demand

Wolves are edging closer to a deal for Hellas Verona right-back Jackson Tchatchoua, as the quest to replace Nelson Semedo reaches a crucial stage.

There has been fast movement in this deal. Fabrizio Romano issued an update early on Thursday that Wolves made an approach for Jackson Tchatchoua.

Just a few hours later, news from Italy suggests the deal has progressed.

Hellas Verona accept £10.3m bid from Wolves for Jackson Tchatchoua

Tchatchoua’s asking price was known to all interested parties, and amidst interest from Nottingham Forest and multiple Serie A sides, Wolves have pulled the trigger and met the figure. That’s according to Tutto Mercato, who issued the update.

Now, the decision lies in the hands of the player. He can accept this move to the Premier League or hold out a bit longer in hopes of renewed interest from Napoli or Inter Milan.

After a painful few weeks looking for Nelson Semedo’s replacement, Wolves are on the verge of closing the book on this saga, and they will be praying that Tchatchoua is attracted to the project at Molineux.

If they can persuade the player, securing another £10 million wing-back after David Moller Wolfe would represent smart business.

How Jackson Tchatchoua would fit in at Wolves

The Cameroon international’s numbers don’t leap off the page. He managed five goal involvements in Serie A last season, starting all 36 games he appeared in.

Tchatchoua has physical traits that make him an enticing option for Premier League sides, who believe his pace and power would adapt well to English football.

At £10 million, he’s a safe bet, especially when compared to some of Wolves’ other targets who are commanding much higher fees.

He’s still just 23 and would likely retain his value in case things don’t work out. But from all the scouting reports and voices in the Italian media, it sounds like Tchatchoua is ready to take this next step in his career.
