Wolves and Al-Shabab now in ‘advanced talks’ over £60k-a-week player’s Molineux exit

Wolves are in for a busy couple of days with a number of players expected to depart the club.

It is transfer deadline day on Friday, and Wolves will be looking to move a number of players out over the next 48 hours.

Max Kilman and Pedro Neto have been the only two big departures so far, with a handful of young players sealing loan moves.

It is expected though that at least a couple more sales will be made.

Goncalo Guedes could leave, as could winger Chiquinho.

And one other player who could be on his way is Daniel Podence, who has made substitute appearances for Wolves in the club’s first two Premier League games of 2024/25.

Podence has come back to Wolves this summer and there has been some surprise that he is still a Wolves player at this point.

The £60,000-a-week ace spent last season on loan at Olympiacos and really thrived.

The Portuguese was expected to complete a move back there, and Olympiacos are still keen, but it looks as though a move to Saudi Arabia is now on the cards.

It has now been reported by journalist Rudy Galetti that Wolves and Al-Shabab are now in advanced talks over a deal.

He writes: “Advanced talks between #AlShabab and #Wolves for Daniel #Podence. The 2 clubs are discussing small details to finalize the agreement.

“The RW already gave his approval for the move: there is confidence to close positively the transfer soon.”

Gary O’Neil has actually opened the door for Podence to stay at Molineux for 2024/25. But seemingly the player is still keen to depart.

Podence exit would be a shame

Podence looks more likely to leave Wolves than stay, and it is a bit of a shame considering how his summer has gone.

Podence came back to Wolves and impressed out in Marbella. Not only was he great in the training sessions and one of the fittest players in the squad, but he also drew a lot of praise for standing up for Hwang Hee-chan against Como 1907, when the South Korean heard a racist remark.

Some fans have been hoping that Podence would stick around. While he has lacked consistency in a Wolves shirt, he undoubtedly has the capacity to provide magic on the pitch and has produced some clutch moments in the past.

If he does go to Al-Shabab, it will be a shame because he shone last season at Olympiacos, who will be mightily disappointed if they miss out on him.
