It has been claimed today that Wolves are ‘advancing in talks’ to sign a La Liga striker, who has previously been compared to Erling Haaland.
Gary O’Neil has wanted a new centre-forward since January.
He had targeted Armando Broja in the winter window, but Chelsea’s demands to let the player leave on loan were too high. In the end, he joined Fulham, who were happy to pay.
Wanderers signed nobody, despite letting both Fabio Silva and Sasa Kalajdzic leave.
The need for a new number nine remains.
And it looks as though Wolves are now targeting a new player, with a big development happening this morning.
Wolves submit offer to sign Celta Vigo Jørgen Strand Larsen

Fabrizio Romano has today reported that Wolves are ‘advancing in talks’ to sign Celta Vigo striker Jørgen Strand Larsen.
Larsen is apparently keen on the move to Molineux, and it is expected that personal terms are also set to be agreed.
Elsewhere, it is claimed by Il Tempo (via Forza Roma) that Wolves have placed a bid worth in the region of £34 million for the Norway international.
There has been no contact yet between AS Roma – another club that are keen – and Celta Vigo.
Larsen has been with Celta Vigo since 2022, having joined from Dutch side Groningen.
He scored 13 goals in La Liga last season, taking his tally for the club to 18 in 73 appearances.
Larsen has previously been described as a ‘powerful striker who attacks the box very well’. Libertad Digital have said that he is not so dissimilar to Manchester City sensation Erling Haaland, and has a ‘killer instinct’ and ‘goalscoring ability’ like his fellow countryman.
He is also said to be good with his back to goal.
A big development

This is quite a big development, and something that has come very out of the blue.
We know that Wolves were in the market for a new striker and all of a sudden, Wolves are advancing in talks to sign Larsen, with the player expected to agree personal terms. Before today, there had not been any reports about interest from Wolves in Larsen.
Larsen, 24, seems a decent player and may be pretty well suited to the Premier League. He is nice and tall at 6ft 3in, and the past Haaland comparisons are encouraging, even if they are perhaps a little easy to make.
Hopefully, sporting director Matt Hobbs can get this one over the line fairly soon and Larsen can come in and settle as quickly as possible. Italian clubs are also in the race, so it will be important for Wolves to be efficient.
