Wolves’ loan moves have been hit or miss in multiple ways this season, but one academy star has been impressing.
The Old Gold currently have ten academy players out on loan. Nigel Lonwijk has been impressing at Luton, with Jack Wilshere praising the defender.
In contrast, Dexter Lembikisa has struggled for game time on loan at Lincoln City, as two of the bigger names out on loan.
At first team level, the loan of Tommy Doyle has proven to be a mistake. The midfielder has been shining for Birmingham City.
However, there is another successful loan move at Wolves, as academy goalkeeper James Storer has been catching eyes.
Who is the one player you want Wolves to sign in the January transfer window? 🤑
James Storer’s performances are garnering interest for the goalkeeper
James Storer showed great promise as a young goalkeeper back in 2021. The shot-stopper produced a sensational quintuple save four years ago.
However, he has not managed to work his way into the first team and has instead had to settle for chances in the youth set-up and loan moves.
This season, he was given another chance to go out on loan, and his performances have impressed enough for clubs to now be interested in signing him next month.
According to journalist Pete O’Rourke, Storer is now ‘attracting interest from clubs’ for the January window.
The 21-year-old has spent the first half of the season on loan at Scottish second-tier side Greenock Morton. In 16 matches, Storer has kept four clean sheets and has conceded 17 goals.

No pathway for James Storer right now
Parting ways with an academy player is never ideal, but at the moment, there is no path for Storer to enter the first team.
Wolves are reportedly in the market for a goalkeeper, with both James Trafford and Christos Mandas linked.
With a goalkeeper wanted in January, who stays and who goes?😬
The arrival of a new number one will only further block his path, and with the youngster performing well, it may be better for his career to seek a permanent move away.
Storer may not be the only young talent leaving in January, as Enso Gonzalez has been tipped to leave Molineux.
