Winger who’s been linked with Wolves now set to join up with Nuno Espirito Santo in £11m transfer

Wolves have been strongly linked with a talented winger from South America this year- but it looks as though former Old Gold boss Nuno Espirito Santo will now be signing him.

Wanderers have made three signings this summer, but have gone quiet over the last month or so.

Rodrigo Gomes, Pedro Lima and Jorgen Strand Larsen have all come in, and the trio have made good impressions during pre-season.

Max Kilman and Pedro Neto have been sold, and some Wolves fans are now starting to worry a little about the recent lack of activity, especially following the sale of Neto.

It remains to be seen if the club will try and get someone in after Neto, such as Carlos Forbes, or if O’Neil will put his faith in new signing Rodrigo and maybe rely on someone like Goncalo Guedes.

One winger target who looks like he won’t be joining Wolves though, is Ramon Sosa.

Earlier this summer, it was reported in May that Wolves had joined Newcastle United in the race for Ramon Sosa, who plays for Talleres.

A few weeks later, it was suggested that Wolves had a ‘good chance’ of securing a deal due to the player changing agents.

But the same journalist who made that claim, German Garcia Grova, then reported in mid-July that Wolves had pulled out of the race.

Wolves may well have reignited their interest following the sale of Neto. But it seems Sosa is now set to join Nottingham Forest to link up with former Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo.

According to the Telegraph, Sosa is set to join the Reds for £11 million. They are hoping to wrap up a deal before their opening Premier League game against Bournemouth this weekend.

Summarising on X, journalist John Percy wrote: “#nffc are edging closer to signing Paraguay international Ramón Sosa for around £11m after a breakthrough in talks with Talleres. Sosa set for medical this week if negotiations continue to progress. Nuno has also confirmed another striker is on the list

Sosa development at Forest will be intriguing

So it looks like barring any last-minute hitches, Sosa will become a new Nottingham Forest player and work with Nuno Espirito Santo.

Wolves were frequently linked with the 24-year-old earlier this summer, but ultimately decided not to move for one reason or another.

It is going to be interesting to see how he fares at Forest and how quickly he will settle.

Hopefully, he will not turn out to be a regret for Wolves, although there was seemingly a reason why the club did not get involved.
