Wolves reportedly looked into the possibility of signing Max Wober from Leeds United in the summer.
Gary O’Neil currently finds himself lacking centre-back options, with Yerson Mosquera sustaining a serious knee injury that will likely keep him out for the rest of the season.
There was already a feeling that Wolves needed a centre-back after selling Max Kilman.
But the club were unable to get anyone in with experience.
Bastien Meupiyou arrived the day before deadline day from Nantes. But the teenager is spending time with the U21s first before becoming involved with the first-team.
Wolves did look at several central defenders before the transfer deadline.
Dara O’Shea was considered, and there was also a claim that Nayef Aguerd was of interest for a potential loan move.
Now, it has been claimed Wolves also looked into signing Max Wober from Leeds.
Wolves were priced out of move for Leeds defender Max Wober

Many Wolves fans are unhappy at the club’s failure to sign a new centre-back.
The need was very clear. Kilman had been sold, and there were question marks about Mosquera who had not made his Premier League debut before this season.
Mosquera looked great in the end. But there were also question marks around Craig Dawson’s ability to play every game given his advancing years.
Toti Gomes has also not proven himself in the middle of a back four, which O’Neil has been set on.
Wolves should have done more to sign someone, and seemingly, the club might have landed Max Wober from Leeds.
According to Give Me Sport, Wolves did look at the Austria international after he had returned to Elland Road following a loan spell with Borussia Monchengladbach.
But the club were apparently priced out of a move, but there is no suggestion of how much the Whites demanded.
It is suggested though that £35,000-a-week man Wober was unwilling to take a pay-cut to move to Molineux. Had he joined, he would have linked up with his international teammate Sasa Kalajdzic. The pair have played together for Austria since U21 level.
Wober, who has previously been described as ‘unbelievable’ by former Leeds man Matt Kilgallon, has already been linked with a January exit.

The centre-back situation is a source of real frustration for Wolves fans.
Wolves had a busy end to the transfer window, but the club did not strengthen the one position they really needed to.
There was always the possibility of one of the existing options getting injured. Most expected that player to be Dawson. But Mosquera is now out for the foreseeable, and O’Neil will have to hope his remaining options all stay fit until January.
Quite possibly, Wolves not getting that new centre-back in could spell real trouble for O’Neil later in the season. As things currently stand, few would bet against the club being in a relegation battle at the business end of the campaign.
