Wolves need a defender. The position was arguably in need of dire reinforcements at the 2023/24 season’s end after a disastrous 2024 at the back.

However, this area is now in need of more urgent care after Kilman was shipped off to West Ham.

This leaves Wolves with only four senior centre-backs at the club going into the new campaign.

Players have been linked in this position with one consistent name who has popped up being Carmo

What is David Carmo’s age and height?

Carmo was born on July 19, 1999. At the time of writing this makes him 24 years old. He also stands at 1.96 metres which is six foot five inches.

Where was he born?

Carmo was born in Aveiro, Portugal.

What positions can David Carmo play?

Throughout his career so far, Carmo has only ever played as a central defender. He is also left-footed which offers more utility to the club.

Who does David Carmo currently play for?

As it stands, Carmo currently makes his trade at Portuguese giants Porto. The defender signed for the club back in 2022 and has since made 27 appearances in all competitions.

Did he play for Olympiacos in the 2023/24 campaign?

In January 2024, Carmo was sent on loan to Greek side Olympiacos. The signing came in the aftermath of the defender being outcast to Porto B due to “inappropriate behaviour within the workgroup”.

As a result, he played the remaining part of Olympiacos’ season which resulted in the club winning the Europa Conference League, the country’s first-ever European trophy.

Yes, while he does not play for Portugal, in 2024 he elected to play for the Angolan national side where he currently has two caps.

Carmo excels in plenty of important defensive stats. According to Fbref, the defender has 4.42 aerial duels won per game and 1.61 blocks. 

On top of this, he is also seen as a brilliant passer. Per 90 minutes, he is completing four progressive passes and 1.49 touches in the opposition box. 

As a result, he is seen as a bit of an attacking defender. On average, he is having 0.9 shots a game while producing a non-penalty xG of 0.07.

Are Wolves interested in David Carmo?

Wolves are believed to be interested in Carmo. After Kilman left the club, it was believed that there was a shortlist of four potential replacements, Carmo being one.

Since then, it has been suggested that Wolves signing Carmo has the most substance. However, it has been reported that Carmo wants to stay at Porto and fight for his spot in the team

It is believed that Wolves will need to pay around £15 million if they want to secure the services of Carmo this summer.
