Wolves were ultimately unable to land a new striker in January despite the wishes of Gary O’Neil – and a report has shared details of the offer the club made to sign Yuri Alberto from Corinthians.
The winter window was very tricky for Wolves, with financial restrictions preventing the club from splashing out.
Wolves were still having to be mindful of Profitability and Sustainability rules, despite selling over £100 million worth of players last summer.
Wolves looked to try and do so something but in the end, the situation was just too tight.
Armando Broja was the player Wolves looked at on deadline day, and the day before, Yuri Alberto was reported as a target…
Wolves made loan-to-buy offer for Yuri Alberto

Wolves’ interest in Alberto came rather out of the blue, with reports surfacing just over 24 hours before the closure of the window.
In the end Wolves did not sign the one-cap Brazil international, to the frustration of some Wolves fans.
Goal Brasil have now provided some details about what Wolves offered Corinthians to sign Alberto.
Supposedly, Wolves offered £2 million for a loan until the end of the season, and there was also a buy option of £15 million included.
This was turned down by Corinthians, who can actually only take 50% of whatever free they receive for Alberto because of a sell-in clause inserted by his former club Zenit Saint Petersburg.
Ultimately, this total package Wolves presented (worth £17 million) just wasn’t enough, with Corinthians entitled to take the £2 million loan fee, but then just £7.5 million because of the sell-on clause.
A new striker would have been nice, but Wolves will be OK
It’s a shame Wolves could not sign a new striker in January, especially because O’Neil really wanted one and at one point said that he was confident one would come in.
But Wolves will be OK without, although there is potential for things to become tricky in the event of any injuries to key players.
Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-chan have been brilliant so far this term in terms of scoring goals and hopefully they can both continue their purple patches for as long as possible.
It may be that we see a bit more of Nathan Fraser in the second half of the season, since Sasa Kalajdzic and Fabio Silva were both loaned out.
