What Wolves are planning to hand Vitor Pereira will leave fans buzzing if it happens

Big changes are on the horizon at Wolves, with Vitor Pereira all set to succeed Gary O’Neil and the January transfer window fast approaching.

Wanderers are languishing in 19th place in the Premier League and are under serious threat of relegation this season.

Gary O’Neil clung on to his job for weeks before finally being sacked on Sunday, and Wolves are now bringing in Pereira from Al-Shabab.

The Pereira appointment is undoubtedly a risky one from Wolves.

But it’s one the club hopes will have the desired impact – under O’Neil, there were very few signs at the end that things would improve and so, he had to go.

Pereira will need backing next month in the transfer window, and one report’s claim will encourage fans.

Wolves could hand Vitor Pereira two new defensive signings in January

It’s been reported by Give Me Sport that Wolves could actually sign two defenders for Pereira in January.

We have known for a while that Wolves intend to sign one new centre-back next month, after failing to land a replacement for Max Kilman in the summer.

But Fosun could sanction deals for two new defenders in the winter window.

It’s not clear if ‘defensive recruits’ means two centre-backs, but it’s hard to imagine Wolves strengthening at full-back. Potentially, Pereira could consider moving Rayan Ait-Nouri into a wing position more regularly, which could create a new for a new left-back/ left wing-back.

Ben Godfrey is a player Wolves have been linked with this week, and the former Everton man would certainly add a bit more mobility to the backline.

And previously, it’s been claimed Wolves admire Adam Webster of Brighton.

Wolves must sign at least one centre-back

This claim is encouraging and hopefully, it will ring true.

Wolves’ centre-backs have been a woeful form this season, and there is a crystal clear need for at least one new recruit for that position.

But two would be brilliant, depending on who they are of course.

Hopefully, the groundwork is already being laid on this ahead of Pereira’s arrival, and Wolves can indeed make a big impact early in the January window.

It’s very important the club are productive early, so that the new players can get to work as soon as possible under Pereira.
