Wolves are having a season to forget, and another claim about Joao Gomes today will do little to improve the mood.
On Saturday, Wolves fell to yet another defeat in the Premier League, losing 2-0 to Crystal Palace.
Rob Edwards could not get off to a dream start in his first match as manager, and the nature of the loss was frustrating with Palace not at their best.
How much is Joao Gomes worth in today’s market?
Palace scored their two goals within a six-minute window in the second-half. But before that Wolves actually played OK. But the issue was that there was no substantial threat. Edwards also felt Wolves lacked confidence, which was no surprise to see given how poor the season has been.
Edwards has so much work to do, and he’ll hope that he is backed in January, because without reinforcements this team is doomed.
But it’s now started to look like Wolves could actually lose one of their best players in Joao Gomes, who is the subject of a new claim this morning.
Joao Gomes’ head has been turned by Man United

Gomes has been on Manchester United’s radar for quite some time.
The midfielder has been a great signing for Wolves and on his day, is one of the best ball-winning midfielders in the Premier League.
It was claimed yesterday that Man United had stepped up talks to sign Gomes in January. Initially, it was claimed that they wouldn’t make a move until the summer.
But TEAMtalk have today provided a worrying update on the situation.
They say that Manchester United now feel that Gomes may become more attainable than their other targets.
And perhaps the most worrying line of this report is that ‘Gomes has had his head turned’ by United, and is now waiting to see if a January move can come to fruition.
Gomes couldn’t be blamed for wanting mid-season exit
Gomes shouldn’t push for an exit from Wolves in January, because the likelihood is that he’ll be off in January anyway.
He could at least stick around to ensure that his strong reputation remains intact – he would have a lot more respect from the Wolves fans if he stayed to fight until the end of the season rather than jumping ship.
Joao Gomes has never hidden his love for the Wolves fans
Previously, it hasn’t really felt like Gomes would be the type to do that, given how much he cares about Wolves.
But at the same time, one can understand how frustrated he must be, and maybe he couldn’t really be blamed for pushing to leave, as disappointing as that would be.
Hopefully it won’t happen, but perhaps fans ought to prepare for the worst.
