What Man United are now preparing to do to lure ‘incredible’ player away from Wolves

Attention is already turning to the transfer window at Molineux despite being just 12 matches into the Premier League campaign.

Gary O’Neil is delighted with his players after Wolves recorded their first Premier League away win in nine months.

Matheus Cunha led by example against Fulham as the Old Gold earned a well-overdue three points, winning 4-1 at Craven Cottage.

While attention is on Wolves’ hope of turning their relegation form around, there is speculation brewing with regard to the transfer window.

Manchester United want to sign Rayan Ait-Nouri

As expected, Cunha is generating transfer interest however, he’s not the only Wolves player to be wanted elsewhere in the Premier League.

One of the talking points in the league at present is Ruben Amorim’s plans with Manchester United after taking the reins from Erik ten Hag.

Amorim wants to add a new left-back to his Man United squad, which naturally would have alerted those at Molineux due to the presence of Rayan Ait-Nouri

The Sun have now reported what some may have considered inevitable, with there an understanding that United want to sign Ait-Nouri.

The report claims that the Red Devils have put the Algerian on ‘red alert’ due to him being a player with a profile that perfectly matches what Amorim desires.

Due to the fact that the Portuguese coach wants to implement a three-at-the-back system at Old Trafford, Ait-Nouri’s form as a wing-back under O’Neil is attractive.

As per The Sun’s understanding of the situation, United are prepared to offer the Wolves defender a ‘substantial uplift’ in wages to lure him to Manchester, which would blow his current salary out of the water.

How much does Rayan Ait-Nouri make at Wolves?

It’s been quite the turnaround of fortune for the fullback at Wolves, as his future at Molineux was very much in doubt during Julen Lopetegui’s tenure.

O’Neil thinks Ait-Nouri is an ‘incredible talent’, which is something reinforced by the importance of the Algerian in the starting XI.

Despite the former Angers prospect being a key player at Wolves, his wage doesn’t necessarily reflect that in comparison to his teammates.

RankPlayer/sWage
1 =Goncalo Guedes / Pablo Sarabia£90k-a-week
2Nelson Semedo£80k-a-week
3Hwang Hee-chan£70k-a-week
4Matheus Cunha£60k-a-week
5Boubacar Traore£55k-a-week

In the 2023/24 campaign, Ait-Nouri was the 18th-highest-paid player at Wolves, picking up a weekly wage of £10k.

To compare the 23-year-old’s salary to a fringe player such as Pablo Sarabia, who earns £90k-a-week, the figures come across as somewhat imbalanced.

Whether a higher wage or a new opportunity could lure Ait-Nouri away from Molineux is something we will have to wait to see, with interest in the player certainly there.
